The United Pickleball Association (UPA) has revealed plans for additional global growth
The United Pickleball Association (UPA), a leader in organizing and promoting professional and amateur pickleball, has announced the launch of the UPA International Championship Series. This series marks a significant expansion of the PPA Tour and Major League Pickleball into new international markets, uniting top players from around the globe in a premier competitive circuit.
"The UPA International Championship Series brings together the foremost pickleball brands and over 150 of the world's top players exclusively affiliated with UPA, introducing them to new territories and uniting the sport on a global scale," said Anne Worcester, UPA Strategic Advisor and former CEO of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).
The series will debut in 2025 with five major events scheduled in Australia, India, Canada, Asia, and Europe. These events will be operated in collaboration with leading local organizations, leveraging their regional expertise alongside the established brand strength of the PPA Tour and Major League Pickleball.
"We are proud to pioneer the world's first premier international pickleball tour, aiming to grow the sport worldwide," Worcester continued. "Our partnerships with local entities are crucial as we expand into new regions and enhance the global appeal of pickleball."
The UPA World Championships in Dallas, Texas, in November 2025 will culminate the series, showcasing top athletes from each region alongside PPA Tour professionals and local amateurs. These events not only highlight elite competition but also provide valuable PPA Tour ranking points, offering athletes from diverse backgrounds a pathway to compete at the highest level.
